Bedtime Stories

As Atticus was (kinda) trying to go to sleep the other night, here is our exchange:

Atticus: My pillow is afraid of the dark.
Emily: Oh.
Atticus: I'm afraid of the dark, too. A little bit.
Emily: That's why we have your little light on.
Atticus: Yeah. Because the big light would be too bright.
Emily: Yes, it would be too bright.

Bedtime has become... challenging. Some of Atticus's favorite stalling tactics are wanting to change his pj's, needing water (a classic!), having an owie (No kisses mom, I need a BANDAID), playing his piano, running out in the living room and sneaking a bite of whatever might be lying around so that he needs to brush his teeth again... You get the idea. Wish us luck as we start to potty train him.

We put a doorknob lock on the inside of Savannah's door... she does not try to come out! Some nights I have to take numerous toys out of her bed when I check on her, but she is always asleep by about 8pm!

Maybe Atticus should be responsible for making his pillow go to sleep and then he may follow suit. Weird idea but it might work! With the way he thinks it may make sense to him. Especially since his pillow is afraid of the dark. He could read to it.
